프랑스계 폴란드인 사진가 팀 프랭코의 개인전이 12월 6일 어라이즈 아트스페이스에서 열립니다.
이번 전시는 도시가 스스로의 과거를 지워갈 때 그 자리에 무엇이 남는지를 탐구하며, 기억, 상실, 그리고 변화를 들여다봅니다.
Bogwang-dong, once a bustling district in the heart of Seoul, now stands empty. Its disappearance is not only physical but emotional — a quiet removal of the city’s memory. The project begins between what was once inhabited and what has been erased, searching for the traces that remain when a neighborhood loses its form.
보광동, 한때 서울의 중심에서 활기가 가득하던 동네는 이제 텅 비어 있습니다. 물리적인 것만이 아니라 정서적인 것도 함께 사라진 듯 합니다. 도시의 기억이 조용히 지워진 것입니다. 이 프로젝트는 한때 사람이 살았던 공간과 이미 지워진 공간 사이에서 시작되어 사라진 동네의 형태 너머에 남은 흔적들을 찾아 나서는 여정입니다
Through transforming found remnants into new images and objects, we are invited to reflect on how urban memory is built, displaced, and rewritten. Reclaiming what was left behind becomes a way to resist the erasure of redevelopment — a fragile attempt to preserve something that no longer has a place in Seoul’s future.
남겨진 잔해들을 새로운 이미지와 오브제로 변환하는 과정을 통해, 우리는 도시의 기억이 어떻게 만들어지고, 밀려나고, 다시 쓰이는지를 성찰하게 됩니다. 버려진 것을 다시 되찾는 행위는 재개발의 완전한 소거에 저항하는 하나의 방식이며 더 이상 서울의 미래에 존재할 수 없는 무언가를 지켜내려는 섬세한 시도이기도 합니다.
At its core lies the question of heritage and continuity; when a city constantly rebuilds itself, what happens to the collective memory that connects its spaces and lives? What is lost when progress demands forgetting?
이 프로젝트의 중심에는 유산과 지속성에 대한 질문이 있습니다. 끊임없이 자신을 다시 짓는 도시에서, 그 공간과 삶을 이어주는 공동의 기억은 어떻게 될까요? 발전이 망각을 요구할 때, 우리는 무엇을 잃게 될까요?
By revisiting what has been displaced or erased, the work reminds us that memory is not a passive trace of the past, but an active foundation for how a community understands itself and its future.
이 작업은 사라진 공간과 밀려난 기억을 다시 들여다보며, 기억이 단순한 과거의 흔적이 아니라 공동체가 자신과 미래를 이해하는 능동적 토대임을 우리에게 알려줍니다.
